Grab your entire family and head off to see five of the most unusual, awesome, and downright odd South Carolina road side attractions this summer - our crew at nothing yet plans to! These oddities are guaranteed to give you something to talk about for years.

The Dizzy Gillespie Statue

Market Street, Cheraw, SC

I’m Dizzy Gillespie from Cheraw, South Carolina” -- This is how the famous trumpeter, and one of the founding fathers of Be-Bop or Afro-Cuban jazz, would introduce himself to his audience.  If you want to see a magnificent statue of Dizzy, featuring his bizarrely bent trumpet and a set of blown out cheeks you won’t forget, take a day trip to Cheraw and witness this amazing statue in person. And if you’re dizzy over Dizzy, a mile down the road you’ll find the Dizzy Gillespie Birthplace Park, an equally remarkable road side attraction honoring the legendary musician.

The World's Largest Crab

9597 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

If you’d like to see a 4.5-ton crab, head over to Myrtle Beach to witness Tommy, the World's Largest Crab, sitting atop the Giant Crab Seafood Restaurant. Take in Tommy’s humongous claws and cheery face, and then go inside to chow down on of some of the eatery’s irresistible seafood.

The Spanish Singing Produce Truck

411 Hibben Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC

Seeking some entertainment with your food? Well, there’s nothing like the sound of giant salad ingredients singing songs in Spanish to get you in the mood for a nice lunch out on the road. The Pickled Palate at Earthly Artifacts is an eclectic restaurant and souvenir shop, able to fill your imagination and your stomach at the same time.

The Angel Oak Tree

3688 Angel Oak Road, Johns Island, SC

Known as the medusa of trees, the infamous Angel Oak Tree looks more like a bevy of octopuses than the ancient tree that it really is. Named after the original property owner, the Angel Oak Tree appears both beautiful and horrifying at the same time. According to folklore, the tree is between 500 and 1500 years old.

The Button King Museum

55 Joe Dority Road, Bishopville, SC

Dalton Stevens, aka The Button King, suffered from a bad case of insomnia for almost three years, spending his nights sewing buttons on a denim suit -- 16,333 buttons, to be exact. Over the course of time, his button obsession grew until it covered his many belongings and vast surfaces in his home. The end result, on display at the Button King Museum, is nothing short of amazing.
